Why do cowboys spin cylinders?
-
@sequoianomad Actually, that's wrong. You do the same thing with wax and plastic bullets; I tried some without enlarging the flash hole, and found out why. The force generated with a normal flash hole pushes the primer backwards. Normally the force on the case during firing would push the case back, re-seating the primer. With no powder, the primer is not re-seated, and the friction between the primer and the frame of the revolver can lock up the cylinder.

You should hold the AutoPrime the other direction, the lever under your thumb. This points the mouth of the case away from you, which is much safer. I was priming a bunch of .38 Specials one time when a primer went off; it chained and blew up half a dozen other primers before the primers in the pan dispersed enough to stop the chain reaction. No damage to me, and the AutoPrime was only a little worse for the wear, with the inside of the lid being scorched.

may be a stupid question, but how loud is a Primer? is it like a cap gun, and suitable for practice in a garage? In short, is it anywherenear the sound of a full bullett that the cops would be called?

@kimovements So does that mean I can run around shooting at peoples feet while yelling "dance bitch, dance"? Cause that's what I do with real ammo...
-
i always thought you painted the wad if you were making black powder blanks to seal the shell from the burning gunpowder spray from the barrel breach

now men have reasons to buy nail polish

thank you for sharing this!

@EaziestE No, that is incorrect. He is drilling out the flash hole to a larger diameter to allow the full power of the primer to propel the rice. In a normal round the blast of the primer is igniting the charge of powder and doesn't need as large of a passage to do it's job.
If you use Styrofoam meat package material to make your wads with, they will burn off as soon as you fire and they do not present the hazard of paper wads.

Thanks for your input.

How much energy does the rice have coming out of the barrel? Enough to hurt someone or seriously damage anything?

@jonolikesbuster
It's enough power to make a hole on a beer can in close range. It should be treated as same as real ammo.
