Discovery Channel acts like this is a solution to the world's UXO problem. So, why doesn't Bush send a team w/ these over to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia?
Hovercraft fitted with GPS mapping and magnetometers now find UXO much faster than teams of men with metal detectors, search for Hov Pod Hovercraft Ground Survey
Not a joke. Definitely NOT a joke. But let me ask you this: what if you could rig vehicles, armored or what not, to have a counter explosive to react to the direction of the IED, much in the fashion of "reactive armor" found in tank technology? If the physics could be worked out, then the survival of the victims could increase due to two factors: diffusion of the intended explosive material and also a sort of force reversal (much in the same that phase reversal in waveform physics)?
@andrewparcher I think the solution would be for the U.S to get up off their ass and go out and do some cleaning up! The U.S spends more money on looking for Missing Airmen than bothering about the thousand's killed and maimed in South East Asia on a year to year basis. War is hell, for the peasant's.
The vulcan is a very good piece of kit I took part in some trials in the US and it worked very well, unfortunatly it is not a solution to the world Land mine problem.
its not meant for a worldwide solution its for removing the threat to soldiers i was one and all we had was c-4 and a metal detector don't give me that shit like its everyones fault
this is no joke you dip sh*t. this device allows the munition to be desposed of safely with less standoff and reduced risk of civilian casualtys in clearance operations.
Well they dont send a team to vietnam or any place cause they dont give a shit of them and they have enough things to do in iraq and afghanistan. So maby sometimes in the future...
In a real IED, when the burning reaches the detonator, it will still blow, probably with much less explosive left however.
