A tale of two textures. Dallas, TX has promoted itself as a convention destination in order to increase "hospitality" revenues. Decker Jail is housed in an old hotel located just across I-35E from the W Hotel, one of the newest and most luxurious hotels in Dallas. The two buildings present architectural textures that both reveal and conceal and through which various meanings are literally and figuratively signalled. (Per D Magazine's "Texture of Dallas" competition rules, shot on a mobile phone and limited to 4 min.)
