  • This is a very helpful book, but you should be aware that there is a convention that you missed when it comes to bass patterns.

    When playing a 1-5 bass pattern, the bassist will double up on the root before a chord change, ie 1-5-1-1. This makes for clearly defined chord changes. Listen to virtually any country record where the bassist is playing 1-5 pattern and you will hear what I mean.
