On November 1st 2011 (11/01/11), Janet Kuypers introduced (as the host of the open mic) the open mike night of poetry and music at the Cafe (5115 North Lincoln Ave., on Tuesday nights starting at 8:30 - 8:45 pm). Janet Kuypers, after welcoming everyone to the Cafe, read accepted poems to the two literary magazines she edits and published through Scars Publications (http://scars.tv) that were published this month (in November 2011): v100 of "Down in the Dirt" magazine (http://scars.tv/dirt) and v226 of "cc&d" magazine (or "Children, Churches and Daddies" magazine, http://scars.tv/ccd). The "Down in the Dirt" poems she read included Joseph Hart's poem "Left/Right", Denny E. Marshall's poem "Half Full Straight to the Top", Ron Richmond's poem "the Trouble with Vision", and Brian Looney's poem "Our Kissing Knees". The "cc&d" poems she read included Eric Shelman's poem "Government", Matthew Guzman's poem "Seal Watching", Sarah Lucille Marchant's poem "Birds: the Bluebird", Sarah Lucille Marchant's poem "Birds: the Blackbird", and Emerald Scott's poem "Advice". Janet Kuypers also read her cc&d 11/11 v226 poem "One By One, the Beech Trees Fell", in addition to her two brand new original poems: the "two-tweet" twitter length poem (http://twitter.com/janetkuypers) "On This Ride", and she closed the evening of open mike poetry with her poem "Human Construct of Time".
