@buddhagem SEC Charter (created during Depression), is to improve info to investors and markets, have clear rules, & honest dealing: Co.'s publicly offering securities must tell the public the truth about their business, the securities they're selling, and the risks involved. Brokers/Dealers/Exchanges (those who sell/trade securities) must treat investors fairly & honestly, & put investors' interests first.

Have you ever actually brought any of your "Occupy" ideas to a General Assembly or a Spokes Council and maybe heard/learned why their aren't very good ideas? It might be helpful. Democracy has an interesting way of turning not so great ideas into much better ideas with group input and the consensus process. Have you ever tried it?

Industries regulate themselves in this country. This is pretty clear if you actually look at the SEC. Again, you're fiddling with the shadow rather than the substance (Politics is the shadow cast by big business). In more simple terms: The SEC is actually doing it's job when it shields Wall Street. That should be pretty clear to most people by now. Harry Markopolos made this abundantly clear. It's really not that complicated.

Excellent idea and an excellent way to bring attention to one of the sides of the pyramid, the regulators. The regulators themselves won't give a fuck but the people will. Who is regulating the regulators? Who is the boss of this outfit? Eric "the gun runner" Holder? Like I said, nobody in power will give a fuck but the people will. You can fudge the numbers all you want in an election year but any fool will tell you that it's a bunch of bullshit, they'l never let things slip in an election year
