The song was produced to help Africa out of a the troubles. It donated 30 Million Dollars to Africa, peaked number one in several charts all around the world and became the fastest-selling American pop single in history. It was recorded in 1985, written by L. Richie and M. Jackson. In 86' it won prices such as 'Song of The Year', 'Record of The Year', 'Best Pop Music Group' and 'Best shrt Form Music Video'.
Before they all meet to record the genius work, Michael Jackson arrived at the morning to record his own version of the song.
'We Are The World', features some of the biggest stars in the history of the music industry. Michael Jackson, Springsteen, Richie Bob Dylan and many more.
It is sure to be remembered as one of the bet song of all time.
On January 12, 2010, Haiti was struck by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake, the country's most severe earthquake in over 200 years. The epicenter of the quake was just outside the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. Over 230,000 civilians have been confirmed dead by the Haitian government because of the disaster and around 300,000 have been injured. Approximately 1.2 million people are homeless and it has been reported that the lack of temporary shelter may lead to the outbreak of disease.
As a result of the devastation, a new version of "We Are the World" was recorded on February 1, 2010. Over 75 musicians were involved in the recording, which was held in the same studio as the original. The new version features revised lyrics as well as a rap segment pertaining to Haiti. Michael Jackson's younger sister Janet duets with her late brother on the track, as per a request from their mother Katherine.
