  • great playing and very sweet tones from both pedals,i liked very much your technic and your blues licks with jazzy touch,as to the pedals there is a light advantage for the ethos, witch sound to my ears rich and very close to the dumble tone,do you have any idea how can i get an ethos overdrive pedal since i don t live in the US?i am in germany and have no acces here to this pedal since there s no delivers

  • Hi Thanks for listening and for your kind comments. . You might contact the company (through their website) that makes the pedal to see if something can be arranged specially for you to ship to Germany. If not, once in a while you can find one on ebay and they might ship to Germany. Good Luck! It really is a great pedal..regards, Thaddeus

  • I love your musical vocabulary. Your playing sounds so fresh! The notes are all over the place (to me) yet they sound oh so right. I've been playing a long time, but have never picked up any of that jazzy stuff, seems like I just can't wrap my ears around it. What type of scales or modes should I be looking at to aim towards this kind of playing? Thanks! (I have a few vids up if you care to check them, but most are SRV covers!).

  • Hi Markku, Thanks for the comps. I am playing pentatonic, blues licks with bends, triads, arps and sounds from modes of the Melodic Minor Scale. I have a method for bending strings which will be outlined along with all of my tricks in a book coming out this fall on Berklee Press, Hal Leonard: Funk/R&B Guitar. I will also be teaching an online course early next year at Berklee with these concepts. I checked out your stuff. Sounds Great! Nice Chops,Best Regards, Thaddeus

  • Is the Ethos worth the price? Do you think the price will drop anytime? Oh, and nice playing by the way.

  • Thanks...actually it is way worth the price. and as far as the price dropping, honestly, If I were you, I would buy one before they become so in demand that the price goes UP! Like the dumbles did...I think it is very reasonable for an extra 3 channels of tone!! I no longer need a clean boost on my pedalboard. Also usable with a 9V batter which lasts a good time. Pedal is also very quiet. I owned all of the best and most expensive OD's and I just sold most of them!.

  • This is a good demo, you take the time to test the both pedals and it seems the Ethos gets more ceamy sound.

I got myself a Zendrive and a Fulldrive 2 for having more harmonics sounds when I couple them and the boost of F2 is on.

I think you forgot to mention the HW diminished scale in the description of what you play..

Anyway you get a personnal and musical style ! :-)

  • Thanks for the demo Thaddeus. One of the most helpful I've seen.

  • thezendrive is good, but the ethos is fatter

  • I think he is barely scratching the surface with Ethos. The Ethos is more like a preamp with lots of options. That said, in the demo I think the Zendrive stayed right with the Ethos. If you consider price difference and the much smaller footprint, the Zendrive is tough to beat.

  • i am not a robben ford fan and i don't know the original sound of dumble overdrive special amp which these pedals supposed to sound like, but both pedals have great clarity and transparency. and they sound similar with little tonal differences. but the ethos is $395 and the zendrive is $179. by the way ethos has also a seperate clean channel.

  • Respect...

  • So, which of these pedals do like better?
