Derek Forbes, one of the great bass 80s bass players

"Shooting from the hip about our faith and love". Perhaps the most perfect and symmetrical collection of words being used as symbols created. Love X

There are two Simple Minds. Upto and pre-New Gold Dream. And the rest. They made a conscious decision to write stage/stadium friendly tracks post NGD. You can't blame them commercially, or practically, but it is fair to say albums 2-5 were seriously innovative and experiemental. What came after set them up financially for life but they are yet to recapture the critical ground lost post-82 - and probably never will.

Eyes of Love @ 4:33 *sigh* Still love this song after all these years... saw them many times live in the early 80s, once at Whiskey-a-go-go for only $6. Stood against the stage, right underneath Jim! I am still moved by his beautiful voice. One of the best bands ever!

I had bought a 12 inch single of Waterfront and a live version of this song that was almost identical to this recording was on the flip side and I was simply blown away. Listen to Sons and Fascination or New Gold Dream now and remember these guys were 23 years old when they were creating that music! It makes Green Day and like look like rank amateurs.
