A group of filmmakers, photographers, and others concerned about proposed rules by the NYC Mayor's Office of Film rallied at Union Square on July 27th, 2007. The rules make it difficult for even casual filmmakers and photographers to operate in New York City.
With regulations concerning dancing, biking, parading, shouting and assembling, these rules are a part of a broader continuum of attacks on our First Amendment rights.

It just went into effect about a couple of weeks ago. I heard that someone already had their camera grabbed out of their hands from them by NYPD about a week ago. Welcome to the New World Order and Orwell America! This is the most blatant violation of First Amendment Rights that I've seen (except, of course, for "Free Speech Zones" -- WTF is that anyway?). This is reeeeally FUBAR...
The answer is simple. DON'T COMPLY. There is no constitutional basis of this ordinance and so there is no reason to follow it. Get arrested and then sue the city office for millions. Seriously people, we need disobedience to this rule. Unjust laws cannot be followed.
