@technopagan724 ...remember, this is a gov't of the people by the people and for the people. We grant the government authority and the government works for us, not the other way around. The federal government today has overstepped its jurisdiction. The bill of rights states that powers not granted specifically by the constitution to the fed. gov't. shall be reserved for the states of the people. All these administrations and regulation committees that are now established are unconstitutional.
@technopagan724 ..., and that reason is because if we are endowed by our creator with our rights, then no one can take them away. If, however, the government grants us our rights, then the government can take those rights away. Again, this has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with restricting the amount of control the government can claim over its people (something which many people seem to be ignoring today and moving forward with romantic ideas of a strong central government)
There's actually a very good reason to include God (or god as in a generic or a so-called universal god) in CERTAIN aspects of (American) government that actually has nothing to do with religion. And this reason, I believe, is why the founders chose to write about a people who are "endowed by their creator" with certain unalienable rights...
Here is a lesson for all of you, there is only one God and his name is Yahweh, and he is in heaven...period!!!!!!....he's not Allah, he's not Kristna, he's not anything else but the Creator...period!!!...This one accepts strictly by Faith...period!!!!
This is a good point I wish was made more often. Hearing these names while being taught the grammar rules of capitalizing "god" was a huge milestone in my deconversion.
There is a little bit of power in naming something. It untied the specific god from the concept and made it vulnerable to criticism in my mind. Naming someone's god by their specific tradition seems to sometimes make other believers less likely to pile on to protect their own god concept.

I hear you. A tissue is not a kleenex necessarily. Nor does a cola have to be a coke.
