This was part of an evening program at Nehalem Bay to teach us about pollution and how it affects local wildlife - especially birds. We saw the effects of fishing line, pesticides and other pollution on a pelican, cormorant, spotted owl, common murres.
"WCNC" is a volunteer based non-profit Oregon corporation with IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Their mission is to rehabilitate injured, sick, orphaned and displaced native wildlife with the goal of releasing healthy, viable wildlife back into the appropriate habitat. They operate under permits issued by the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and the US Fish & Wildlife Service. Their licensed rehabber is Executive Director Sharnelle Fee. Sharnelle has been rescuing and rehabilitating animals for over 20 years. Her first 10 years she did it as a hobby until she realized this was her calling.
