Good horn qrrangements, nice voice on lead, but no lyrics whatsoever (where's the songwriting?) Decent guitar playing. Eh? Please! . There is a definite reason why these guys are NOT national. They're good, not great. Delbert McClinton's band, Brian Setzer's Big Band or old Earth, Wind and Fire slays these cats...'cause they're singing songs. Write some songs dudes, and the word Mingo could be a household name.

Agreed, EWF, Delbert - amazing. But sometimes, at a show, having a fun little groove and showcasing the players is ok, too. Paying homage to the JBs. Check out some of Mingo's stuff on iTunes or wherever and see if you find something more to your taste. And while were talking great songwriters, I gotta mention Stevie Wonder, Lowell George, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Amos Lee...
