  • But do u know any other breeders that might be selling some pigeons

  • @Nelmes007 I know breeders of course but I like to remain Tossdart somewhat. It seems you are in the UK & the finest birds in the world come from the UK. Find a local club they are many there, get mentored. This will save you from buying expensive but no better birds okay. My birds would bankrupt you most likely if I did sell them. If you are wanting to buy good pigeons may I suggest looking for a Oneloft futurity $ race in your local area. Choose strong overall finishers.

  • Are u selling any pigeons

  • @Nelmes007 I get asked this a lot, no for a number of reasons. # One is airport is 135 miles from me. I have not bred any birds this season & only several last to protect my stock as many of the birds you see especially breeders are 1999 or 2000. My 97s dropped off as winters here are very cold -48 C & wind a -80 windchill is possible. 13 years old isn't bad in this climate. A point comes where one flys a potential breeder & goshawks kill them & you realize oops that line is gone

  • Do you use widowhood? The pigeons fly back fast to get to their babies. Widowhood is the name of this cruel training technique that some trainers use. I am not accusing you, though. The use of widowhood is usually begun by first allowing the racer to raise a baby in their nest box. After the baby is weaned the hen is removed and often the nestbox is closed off, from then on the only time these birds are allowed to see their mate or enter the nest box is upon returning from training or a race.

  • @PhoenixStillRising It is a good bet I know what widowhood is. However your idea is scewed by your emotions. Racing Pigeons are motivated by sex or even the promise of sex. If a person allows one round of babies they are doing it to obtain more flyers. You do not need to allow anything but the site of a hen to motivate a cock that is kept seperate. If not seperate how many pigeons are you prepared for! Now that is cruel. The instant a cock does not appear to hen, useless mate, squat.

  • @TheDylanJoyce Lol had to bing that one.

  • Anybody else play "Ride of the Valkyries" during the their take-off?

  • @anotheraka Yes of course it is likely they will fly home. That is why they are called Homing Pigeons. They are probably sick as most fanciers consider even vets to be clumbsy when it comes to our birds never mind a pound! Just rescue them if you like but they need a loft & care. You can't just go get birds they require commitment.

  • @Tossdart I don't understand why I will lose them. Is it because they will go to their old home? I don't want to fly them, I just want them to stick around the yard. I still have not gotten them and they are still there. They are in a small cage and look sad.
