The whole point of the Segway is that it stands upright on only 2 wheels, and why it is so expensive.
By adding just one more wheel the very complex and expensive has been removed.
Simply add this 3rd wheel and leave it in place.
Now you have something at one tenth the cost of a true segway.

Thx eltomato the idea was to give the segway a use on the road at higher speed. Right now the speed of a segway is blocked to be maneuverable while standing on it. Imagine cutting through road traffic just by standing and using it like a segway but after on open road, you just sit and ride...
