Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy.
Science Class, Mr. Parr
Start at the poles yeah, y'all can come along
Opposites will adhere, same push put far
Repulsion starts with north and south seeking
Tiny molecules know as dipoles
Are grouped and lined up in domains
Magnetized they all point the same way
The types of magnets
Hey invisible force attaching to steel and iron
Permanent magnets
Man steel's so hard magnetism won't wear off
Temporary magnets
Yeah, iron's so soft quickly losing properties but easily magnetized
Soft or hard, ferromagnetic
Ferromagnetic, ferromagn...
Now we will reveal yeah, magnetic fields
Regions where objects fly, but they'll show up (with flux)
Strength and direction with magnetic flux lines
The strongest you see, where the lines meet
Moving out in circles away
Angles back even the Earth is this way
The types of magnets
Hey invisible force attaching to steel and iron
Permanent magnets
Man steel's so hard magnetism won't wear off
Temporary magnets
Yeah, iron's so soft quickly losing properties but easily magnetized
Soft or hard, ferromagnetic
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets
Oh oh oh oh, Sing it right back, the types of magnets
Oh the current flowin' through
The wire electric producing a magnetic field around it
We're not done the field can be made strong
If the wire is wrapped around the coil its wound
When the current is passed on through the coil
In the zone, behaves like a solenoid
If the rod is soft iron, placed inside of it
Quickly magnetized cause (Ferromagnetic)
Adds it's own magnetic field
Next to the solenoid paired together ouch
Together thry make two, electromagnet
Many uses, buzzers, switches, and some bells
Why when the current flows its very hard
Hold tight there until the current's off
You like a train running off tracks
Hovers above the track less energy by far
The types of magnets
Hey invisible force attaching to steel and iron
Permanent magnets
Man steel's so hard magnetism won't wear off
Temporary magnets
Yeah, iron's so soft quickly losing properties but easily magnetized
Soft or hard, ferromagnetic
Hey invisible force attaching to steel and iron
Permanent magnets
Man steel's so hard magnetism won't wear off
Temporary magnets
Yeah, iron's so soft quickly losing properties but easily magnetized
Soft or hard, ferromagnetic
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets, magnets
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets
Oh oh oh oh, Magnets
Easily magnetized Sing it right back, the types of magnets
WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE LYRICS FOR MY CLASS.!:)
