if all he is doing is the exhaust then yes he will loose bottom end response, but not overall power. The size of the exhaust tip does not give an accurate dimension of the pipe size from the headers/exhuast manifold to the tail. Bigger is always better but it gets toa point where you cant see/feel any increases, at which point all your doing is making extra noise. 2.5inch would be plenty from the header back for most situations, but wihout a igntion map tune at least, there will be sacrifices
