Why are today's movie stars all so trashy?
-
It's a cliche, but they REALLY don't make 'em like her anymore! This is a lovely presentation that I'm sure she would have loved,

@SoCalGal52 At 2:29 when shes in the bathtub, is from "The Grass is Greener" (1960) I think Deborah Kerr is great in that movie :)

She totally looks like Maureen O`Hara at 5:02!

Gorgeous picture at 3:17! She truly was a lovely lady!

@SoCalGal52 my father loved kerr - she made series of excellent films unlike ava , who doesn't have one outstanding flick to her name! but i do feel ava was more beautiful than even liz taylor. pity she was so careless about her career. she even refused to be photographed when she looked her best in her in her 30s, semi-abandoned her career and sat in Spain. Kerr and Liz took their careers seriously, worked hard and have a real body of work-which endures, unlike a tabloid beauty queen, Ava

@shahidaly1 Ava Gardner said the same thing about Miss Kerr in her autobiography, in different words of course. I don't know, I was somewhat offended by what she said. Ava said something about how she was always the same. This was after making Night of the Iguana together. Can't remember exactly. But obviously, you both have a right to your opinion. I see her differently. In The Innocents, she was extremely different, and very convincing. I love her acting.

One of the best actresses in the world!
Deborah Kerr was actually SCOTTISH - NOT ENGLISH BUT SCOTTISH!!! For some reason, the outsiders were always picked to play English Roses in Hollywood. Greer Garson was IRISH!! But both their beauties are preserved FOREVER on celluloid. Ask some English people to pronounce Deborah Kerr and they say ... Debwa Kaw!!! Debbo-rah Kerr is how to pronounce this SCOTTISH BEAUTY'S name. Oh, and Gwee Gawson!!

@squirell1952 Many of these tags and nick-names were dreamed up by the Hollywood publicity machine. Names like 'Sweater Girl' and 'Sarong Girl' were hated by the likes of Lana Turner and Dorothy Lamour. Greer Garson was actually born in Manor Park, Essex (now Greater London) in 1904 but spent much of her childhood at her grandfather's residence in Ireland.

This was lovely basil. The music, the beautiful photos. A wonderful tribute to a very lovely lady. At 2:29 what is this movie with her in the bathtub and Cary Grant looking down at her. Also, I love the picture at 6:01. Absolutely lovely and a little bit Audrey Hepburnish. Great stuff basil. I always look forward to your videos.

@SoCalGal52 Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. At a guess the scene may be from 'Dream Wife' (1953)

You are of course correct. Hollywood regarded her as 'English' even though she was born in Edinburgh. They also regarded Greer Garson as 'Irish' although she was born in London.
