You have some pure sources (B&O Record Player, CD player, etc...) and a beautiful amp, but you put something unnecessary in between the signal path. I simply can't understand why you would put something like a radio-shack signal switch for your components. I guess I'm a bit compulsive though.....Hey, what speakers are you using?

@tuneboynick it's a source selector, it's nothing that'll hurt the sound unless a contact in it goes ker-chunk on me. the speakers i had on that thing at the time were terrible. in relation to the source selector, they were Auvio 3-way speakers. i wised up and got some Bozak ones later on. this receiver i no longer have, but, they sound awesome.

I don't understand why you have such a pure amplifier, and pure sources.....but you run them through a cheap little radio-shack source switch.

@tuneboynick that's a mood point. doesn't effect the sound until the source switch has an issue.

Of course because you're recording this accoustically with a digital camera that's not exactly going to give everyone a true representation of the true audio quality of the equipment you're using. Do you know what sampling frequency and bit depth your camera records at? I'm watching this video with the resolution set at 240P, this also reduces the audio quality. I like your setup there, and yes now that I think about it, I can hear that the second record you're playing sound a bit thin.

@Lachlant1984 yes, i know, but there are still differences between recievers that's audible in the recording. i record these videos with an iphone 3GS which records in mp4 video format. 48KHz at 16 bit i believe. i'll have to double check that.

@lmull3 I agree with tuneboynick. Running such pure sources through a cheap "source selector" can hurt the sound. Even if the device is 100% functional, it not being made to sound good, only to make things more convenient, can me it sound bad. Though I must say, even through the "source selector", it sounds pretty sick. I love old systems like these. They are famous for a reason. Also, where do you find these systems? I have found that thrift shops actually have good old systems for cheap.

Well done my friend. I love foolin around with good audio equipment too. I have an interesting setup too. I have a genuine Norseco Quadrasound stereo reciever from the 70's. And it still gives great sound. I run PC's though it, CD's, Tapes, and even my Ipod touch witch sounds fantastic even considering the age of the reciever. Its proof that when you make something well it stands the test of time. Heck I might even make a video response to this.
