Looking back at these performances I really wonder why "they" categorically say that Midori is "not artistic" ... there's nothing "un-artistic" about her skating and she probably has a lot of transition and high quality spin for that era! Her jumps, obviously, were even better than all but a couple of men (even that is debatable) .....

I remember watching this in high school. It was really great that even after the first fall, she stuck it out and went for it again. Unrelated to the performance itself, Scott Hamilton gives a much better commentary than this person who really doesn't say anything at all.

She may not have won the gold medal at the Olympics, but she did make history by becoming the only female to land a triple axel in competion. :)
