A request for musicians to cover my song "Pleasure" to hopefully help promote my Socks and Chocs event which myself and four colleagues do each Christmas Day. (Chords and lyrics below).
This year we donated about 1800 pairs of socks, over 2000 bars of chocolate, 150 sleeping bags and 400 blankets. I helped the homeless in Coventry, Birmingham, and Wolverhampton.
I really want you musicians to cover the song in as many different styles as you can. Forward it to your friends so they can cover it and let's see if we can get it the most covered song on You Tube.
I know most of you can do a better job than I can so go for it and put me to shame.
Play it in any key just keep the lyrics intact and place the same chord numberings in any key.
Please call it "Pleasure" and refer to Socks and Chocs For The Homeless.
Chords and lyrics below. Words and music copyright to Ian Northcott 31/12/11. This should not stop you from covering the song though as you have permission to do so.
Thank you.
Ian
Pleasure
(Verse Chords)

G D C
So Unpleasant to the eye of
the common man,
With sores, dirty bodies and scabies,
Asking for money,
Upsetting the ladies,
Nobody really gives a damn.
Begging change to buy a safe bed,
Hunger, addiction and pain,
Troubled existence,
Lives down the drain,
Nobody cares if they live or if they're dead.
(Chorus Chords)

It seems such a pity,
When you walk round the city,
Lost souls congregate,
Making commuters late,
Asleep on the streets,
On bus shelter seats,
Their pleasure a bottle of beer.
Politicians, the rich, don't understand,
Middle England, Your conscience clear,
Open your eyes,
See their fear,
So much for the Big Society brand.
It seems such a pity,
When you walk round the city,
Lost souls congregate,
Making commuters late,
Asleep on the streets,
On bus shelter seats,
Their pleasure a bottle of beer.

It could be me,
It could be you,
Your mother or brother,
So much we could do.
It seems such a pity,
When you walk round the city,
Lost souls congregate,
Making commuters late,
Asleep on the streets,
On bus shelter seats,
Their pleasure a bottle of beer.

Just had a discussion with Ben Stancombe and Rosie my Socks and Chocs colleague and their versions will be on line shortly. This is going to be a great way to publicise Socks and Chocs so a big thanks to all.

In this bad weather a homeless person dies locally! I need you all to help promote Socks and Chocs and covering this song is a start. Please help.

I have asked Ben Stancombe who is a talented local musician to cover it and then I will send to Swarb. Amazing response.

Thanks, had a great response from Fairport Convention who might be able to do something but they must be very busy. Dave Swarbrick the folk fiddler legend has said he will put some fiddle on it for me if I can get it recorded onto a cd.
