if ur one of the people who think this wont work then ur wrong even if u tryed it in a fight because this or any other move will need a guy who really have mastered it it needs timing, speed, and payn attinion

Or I could parry his punch with my arm, put my arm around his throat, put my right foot behind him and pull hard to the ground, it's gonna hurt more and people wont say I see too much Jackie Chan movies :)

watch to know, use if its useful.

Wow, trick question. Run for your life then cos' it ain't human LOL or call of shaman / priest haha...

@Skillking22 But what if your opponent has no head either? What do you do?
-
I concur. It might not work effectively against someone who's too big for your size. Hence striking would be better.
-
Haha hit his head then since he has no hands and legs for defense at all...

The main idea of the this move, as Master Wang has pointed out, is to grab and pull the attacker's hand backward and down, thus off-balancing the attacker and shifting the attacker's weight to the front leg. With less weight on the rear leg, its easy to lift someone off their foot.
BTW, the attacker in the video was not simply "making a flip". He's clearly countering the move by following through Master Wang's counter-attack by flipping away to safety lest he'll faceplant to the floor.

it might work if you're really really fast and have a very good timing, i personally wouldn't recommend this technique for self-defense. If your attacker is nearly sleeping when trying to punch you, you may do it, otherwise it couldn't work.

yeah this doesnt seem very realistic
I agree with most people that this technique has a low chance of success or most people will not choose to use this technique mainly because it is just not very effective. in that situation it is almost a guaranteed win as soon as he avoided the punch and attacked the side of the head.
however from the beginning of the clip i get the impression that this man is showing choreographing techniques. i think this would look great in a choreographed fight. there is no need for ridicule

The leg pull up is the only useful technique in this video.
From my opinion, a side step chain with a block and a grab and a pull is a bit too elaborated.
It might work in a real fight but from my own point of view don't count on it.
