This song tells of a father spending life with his daughter. He watches the potential most significant things happening in his daughter's life and realizes that she won't always be there with him, so he is going to spend as much time as he can with her.

i love this song my dad just sang it to me last night. before the movie couragouse came out he told me to listen to it and i never did. then in the movie the lilttle girl asks her dad to dance with her and he didnt and i asked my dad if he would dance with me and he said of course. some times we need to stop and think about who really loves us

@ 8poprocks8, I'm so sorry that you didn't grow up knowing him and sorrier still that that was your experience when you did finally meet him. Please know it wasn't you it was something lacking in him. You are right though, GOD is your father, the only one you really need. He loves you and will ALWAYS be by your side. i wish my dad was in my life. He left when i was like 1. I would always ask my ma who he is and what he is like... I asked my mom early in January if i could meet him. I ended up meeting him in february on my birthday. He doesnt even talk to me now. He has a little girl and boy with some other lady that he lives with.. it makes me mad and cry all the time that he doesnt care about his first daughter.. but hey i got God for my dad... love you daddy
