Anarchy and the Internet

A beginning of ideas about the Internet and Politics of the Internet which I would like to elaborate on in the near future. Here, I begin to discuss Youtube, Wikipedia, Facebook, and how they relate to freedoms; later, I want to talk about databases and Wikileaks, as well as more on the politics of the Internet.

YouTube is particularly interesting because it allows "amateurs" to put forth their ideas and opinions to the public, which would've been very difficult to do in the pre-youtube era. In doing so, it can generally lead to intelligent discourse on any given topic. It also narrows the gap between traditional celebrities/public figures/intellectuals and everyone else, which consequently evens the playing field in terms of people's voices getting heard. One main drawback is that can inflate egos.
