What is clicker training? Clicker training is a way of training animals in which desirable behavior is marked with a sound maker and then reinforced, making the behavior more likely to happen in the future. Who can use clicker training? People of all ages! What animals can be clicker trained? All animals, young or old. All species and breeds, small or large. Clicker training creates strong reliable behaviors, and is a great way of modifying behavior- solving shyness, reactivity and aggression. It is also a ethical way to bond with your companion animal as you train the animal to want to do what you want them to do, rather than physically or psychologically intimidating the animal to do what you want.

  • IMHO you should be on TV instead of Caesar. I love your vids, good clear info and very inspirational. :^)

  • @cybertourniquet My dog is trained using clicker training methods. And yes, she listens to me even though there are many distractions around. She even listened to me at new years eve, when we were in a crowded place with people and fireworks. She also listens to me when there's other dogs around. I have been working a lot with her to listen even with distractions. She is now 15 moths.

  • When I got to 4:25 all I could think was "Who the hell has a green dog, and what difference would the colour make anyway?"

  • awesome! The trick at 2:40 i really want to teach my dog Copper (but from a distance) you should make a tutorial on that trick; its super cute!! :D

  • @Marialeo71 The clicker should only be used in the learning phase. Later you can use 'good boy' and a treat or play, rewarding gets random, and the dog just does not know when it will get rewarded. This training has also such advantage that dogs learn to like the tricks so much they might do them for fun.

  • @fLyLiLmOmMy24 You should teach some kind of 'leave it' thing (not sure what the trick is called in English). Anyway, you click the dog when she looks or moves away from the treat. "To get the treat I must keep away from it." Then you can start finding other behaviours you want to reinforce.

  • @mike73131 Have you muffled (?) your clicker as told in the vid or is your dog still scared of it? If your dog doesn't like the clicker, you could try some other short sound that is not common in everyday life. Clickers are also different. I have one very loud and ugly, and one noisy but nice and one more gentle. There are also models you can adjust.

  • my dog responds to a treat but thinks the clicker is going to hurt her help !!!!! please !!!!!

  • Totally agree with MacHamish who opines YOU should be on tv instead of Caesar!

  • I wish I could have one!!😭💔I love my beagle!!🐶-ruff! (sorry that was the closest to a beagle as I could get !☺)

  • I bought a clicker today. I can't wait to use it. But I want to start off correctly. My pup seems to only sit when I have a treat. She only focuses on the treat and never gives me eye contact. :( any advice?
