In the books, He gets accidentally turned to look like Darken Rahl by Darken (long story) and Kahlan thinks it's Darken so she confesses him. However, Richard found a loophole and realized that all a confessor's power is is love and loves her so much he would die for her and that the confessor's touch wouldn't do anything because it's already there. He turns back into Richard and he kills Darken Rahl (long story) and they get together. It's very good, read it!

The series title is "The Sword of Truth," authored by Terry Goodkind. You can most likely find them in a public library in the fantasy section. The books in the series are titled: Wizard's First Rule Stone of Tears Blood of the Fold Temple of the Winds Soul of the Fire Faith of the Fallen The Pillars of Creation Naked Empire Debt of Bones Chainfire Phantom Confessor

do "legend of the seeker" books availible in public libraries? If so does the book really say Legend of the seeker?

Yes, you can find them or order them in any library & no. They are not called "Legend of the Seeker". Each one has a different title, but the series is called "The Sword of Truth". The first book is "Wizard's First Rule":

This show completely murdered the books. It took the story and twisted and turned it to the point where the only recognizable points are the characters names and titles.

Well, this is your personal opinion.
I actually like the show more than the books & I think it's great that they're taking it a different way.
Don't get me wrong, I love the books, but with this show? You never know what's going to happen. Having read the books doesn't spoil you & it doesn't ruin surprises.
Anyway, I don't think it is as you say. There are many differences as well as many similarities to the SoT series, not just names & characters =).
