James Garner is a naval office sent by submarine to a remote Pacific island occupied by the Japanese to secretly photograph a Japanese code book. He uses a Minox. But if you look very closely his Minox is anachronistic. It's a Model IIIs, with the flash sync socket, not made until the early fifties, while the setting of the movie is during World War II, probably 1943 or 1944. The movie was made in 1969.
