Catching an egg is a good thought but I like to think, "hit the ball just enough to make the apex of the ball's flight occur on my side of the court"...it then continues its trajectory and just dies over the net.

@Flyingfail he really isnt claiming that this is the final product but how to develope it. I dont understand why people like you have to fly off the handle because a developmental video doesnt match what you see on T.V.

1st of all, his drop shots suck. The fact that they cross over the net soo higher will give enough time for the person to get to the ball. Second, his drop shots are like 2-3 feet behind the service line, which way to far in the court to actually be effective. and Finally, "pushing it" does not mean its a drop shot. It has no backspin what so ever and will not cause it to drop fast after the 1st bounce.
