Day 12 - 9/28/11 Daily Recap | Occupy Wall Street Video

Everyday we will do our best to bring you a daily recap of the revolution going on in New York City's financial district.

On September 28th, Day 12, we were joined by Hip-Hop pioneer, Russell Simmons who stood with us in solidarity and spoke out against corruption and corporate greed.

Supplies and care packages streamed in from all over the world with messages of love and support. A hundred New Yorkers (including Russell Simmons) sat in stillness, meditating for social change, peace, and justice.

And we are still going strong.

it says a lot if Russel Simmons is supporting a movement that might be advocating a redistribution of wealth or some hybrid of the sort. it is funny though that after all these people become extremely rich they then become philanthropist...I think it's because deep down inside they know that they shouldn't have so much while others suffer so much.

I'm not totally sure myself, but it seems to be largely about the bailouts the large corporations received recently (a couple years ago?  My long-term memory is poor), along with other issues like taxing the wealthy.

I'd visit sites like occupywallst . org for better info.

I just switched into politics for school and my teacher was talking about lobbying and protests last week and sent us this link and told us to watch it. I watched it and I sort of understand the basis of whats going on but not the minor details. I dont want people attacking me, just explain whats going on.. please and thanks!

I never said they were the ONLY ones there, but 1) I was commenting on this particular vid, and 2) they do seem to rep the majority there from all I've seen, and yes including hippies (as you pointed out).
