The PianoDisc iQ Intelligent Player System can connect an iPod to a PianoDisc reproducing piano, allowing for audio output to speakers inside the piano case, video from the iPod, and MIDI signals embedded in the music track to actually play the physical piano in sync with the video. This demonstration was shot at the Cunningham Piano Company in Philadelphia (http://www.cunninghampiano.com/), with the audio directly recorded from the iQ playing through an acoustic Cunningham piano. Featured song "100 Years" by Five for Fighting. Video and audio engineering by pianist/videographer Hugh Sung (http://hughsung.com)

  • What happened to the piano at 1:22?

  • @cc213t The piano plays by itself! It's part of the PianoDisc IQ system, which uses an iPod to control the player piano automatically, synchronized to the video. Pretty cool, eh?

  • Hugh, you are a technology addicted :-)

Have you ever searched for a "technoholic" support group?

    Just kidding ;-)

  • LOL - do such groups exist? ;)

This iQ system is just too much fun, eh?

  • @hughsung ...is this video and iq song available for purchase or did you record this yourself? I am looking for additional music beyond the pianodisc store. What do you recommend?

  • @newiquser I recorded this "live demo" myself, but the music video by "5 for Fighting" as it's played on the iQ system's iPod is available for the PianoDisc system. They actually have a huge library of player piano and music video selections. Have you had a chance to visit the PianoDisc site?

  • iQ users... I have come up with a sweet way for you to control the balance between the volume of the piano and the volume of the orchestration at-will. It works perfectly, and causes no noise. If you're interested, go to ebay and and search for "pianodisc balance control" . There you will see a small blue box with two knobs. And you can read more about it there. thanks!
