Bad fighting system? Pfft, this isn't like an RPG. But yes, there's a "Dodge" in your Pallete, where the character does a quick roll to evade an enemy attack.

tip for people who cant beat dark falz: when mother trinity is in her dieing scene(part when you beat her) use your photon blast and you will be invincible in the fight with dark falz.
