JOHN IRELAND: Sasha confirmed some very big news with me just a few minutes ago. It came out today that he is now engaged to tennis superstar Maria Sharapova. They've been dating for about a year and Sasha told me now they're engaged to be married.

JOHN: How did you ask her?
SASHA: Uh... That stays between us, but it was -- how to say? "Old School," probably. You know? But I had to do it like a gentleman, so it was good. She was happy. The answer was "yes," so I think she liked it.

JOHN: Were you nervous?
SASHA: Ah... not really. I mean, it was a long process and I did it on our one year anniversary so it was exciting.

JOHN: So that's some good work from Sasha Vujacic; he gets engaged to Maria Sharapova and after suffering from a concussion about a week ago, he's back in the starting lineup replacing Kobe Bryant tonight here in San Diego.

Sasha was born in Yugoslavia .Slovenia never existed on any map till a few yrs ago :)

City that he was born is part of so called 'contry' Slovenia what what was a small republic in ex-Yu and it does not make him Slovenia. He is Serbian born in ex-yu....His hight and good look can come only from being a pure Serbian !

He is planing to get married in Serbian Orthodox Churche not Slovenian church and rubish news can write whatever they want but I just wrote to u what is a reality !!!

@seventy7whitesheep : Slovenia is territory where he was born (Anyone can be born anywhere, like Englishman might be born in Germany -it doesn't make him German). His origin is Serbian. Slovenian people by origin don't have surnames on -ić, vić....

I'm Slovenian and yes,he was born in Slovenia,Maribor,but he's half Serbian...He's father is Serbian and mom is Slovenian...Like @peacebre told you in Slovenia the surnames don't end on ić...There is no "ć" letter in Slovenian alphabet!
