Once again- my love for tanning beds in the 80's has come back to haunt me- During my latest visit to my Dermatologist- he took a biopsy off my chest & it came back positive for being "Squamous Cell" Carcinoma.

Be Warned-
This video reveals the surgery entailed for it's removal. (Very Graphic)
and if this video doesn't convince you to cancel that tanning salon appointment- and see a dermatologist on a regular basis- then nothing will.

If your seeking a Skin Dr. - I highly recommend mine-
Dr. Clayton T.Hinshaw works in 2 different locations-
Tarzana CA (818) 345-7122 and in Simi Valley CA (805) 527 6586

  • I am currently 14 years old and have obviously never used a tanning bed. However, I am going through the 'Elliptical excision' tomorrow on my back for a biopsy. Do you have any idea how big the scar will be? Just because some peoples are very small such as yours, but some are very large even with a leision smaller than mine. Do you know why this is? Thankyouu xx

  • @MissCkatie - Hi... I'm not an authority on how scars heal- but- since your only 14 - it should heal fairly nicely.... & fade in time. Good luck with the Biopsy.

  • Awesome that you shared that ! So I guess I'll stick with nude beach sunbathing.

  • @beachlender - Nude Beachs can be fun.... I've gone to a few.... lots of eye candy!!! ;-D

  • Hi Robin !

How are you now ?.. Hope the post-op recovery is going just fine for you.

    Best wishes.

  • @derekNb02 - got my stitches out today... :-D

  • Very Interesting. I just did it.And have 2 to go. Heal well,we all need to,lol.

  • I have many friends who went to tanning salons and their skins are nice and bronze - but what they DON'T know is that it's coming back to haunt them!! I hope you're OK now

  • hahah eff tanning beds!

  • In the 70's & 80's we all "over did it" outside and/or in tanning salons. We know now that burning can increase your risk for skin cancer. I am at the forefront of educating people to NEVER BURN! However avoiding sunshine/UV is not the answer. We need UV to survive & we need a tan to protect ourselves from burning. A tan will actually help PROTECT you from skin cancer (due to sunburn protection & vitamin D)

Please tan responsibly & in moderation (according to your skin type & previous exposure)
