  • But the accents might make you blow your brains out...

  • Starret ain't the way it used 2 be..

  • my dad is on the left at 0:51

  • I was in that commercial!!!! - towards the end, the girl watering the plants and then hugging my mom. I really loved that place when we first moved in. Whoever you are, thank you so much for uploading this - I have been looking for it for so long....I can't wait until my mom sees it! Thank you!!!!!!!!

  • Where did you find this? I grew up in Starrett City. My parents moved in in 1977 and I was born in '79. My dad was in one the commercials for Starrett... not this one though. He came up out of the pool and said "There aren't many places you can go swimming in January." You don't by any chance have that commercial? I'd love to see it. My parents said it was on all the time but you know... days before VCRs. I was too little to remember.

  • Funny thing about starrett city was how the government moved in russians in order to racially integrate the place when it could have brought in poor whites from appalachia or deep south. Sad how the government often works that way.

  • and now theres a bunch of blacks in living in this building...

  • I was 10 years old in 1979, and my mother tried to get us an apartment in Starrett city. She filled out an application, but nothing came of it as there was a long waiting list for apartments there. It was just as well. We usually lived in 2 or 3 family apartment houses. Because you had much more room, more space, than your average apartment in an apartment building.

  • Ima call that number.

  • My home town so young
