Trumpeter Thomas Stevens in a performance of Aurelio de la Vega's "Para-Tangents" for solo trumpet and prerecorded electronic sounds. Composed, performed, and recorded in 1973, this is one of the earliest works of its genre.
The trumpet is sublime, the electronics are shit. In my opinion, there is no more futuristic sound than can be produced by the orchestra as an instrument. If an attempt was made to replicate the electronic sounds using instruments in the orchestra, this would be much more aesthetically pleasing to the ear.
