How I Tandem Nursed My Twins

The logistics of nursing two babies at the same time can be hard. Here's how I did it. We pretty much followed this system up until about eight months, at which point the babies had gotten so quick it was just as easy to do each of them separately. We successfully breastfed up to 13 months.

I feel like a complete dork watching myself in this video, but I'm willing to suffer a little embarrassment if it helps some other twin moms out there!

I am tandem nursing my 10 weeks old twins boys using your advice. At first, I'm so afraid to do so, but after watching your video, it encourage me that we could do it too.

I've been tandem nursing for 3 weeks now and love it so much.

But the only problem I found now is the boys are getting heavy (almost 10lbs each) to lift onto the nursing pillow, is there a trick to lift them up without sore arms? I'm a very petite woman (5ft3 95lbs).

Any advice?

@kk52736 Congratulations on your twins, and on breastfeeding them!! As long as I tandem fed them, I think I pretty much picked them up as you see in this video. I found that every time they had a growth spurt, I'd feel like we would soon have to change our habits (how I picked them up, carrying both at the same time, etc), but I think my just strength grew as they did! I am sorry if that's not very much help -- good luck, I know you'll figure out what's best for you all!

@BubblesnVeggies Congratulations on your pregnancy! Twins are wonderful! The couch is just a big sectional with an ottoman. I found that I really liked having my feet up while I nursed. I only used this one for a couple of months, and then we moved, and I used a normal sofa with a footstool. For the first eight months or so, my "nursing station" was set up on the couch all the time!

Great video. Wished I had seen it when I was pregnant with mine and I was so scared about feeding them. Mind you I made it to 10.5 months. Was never happier than tandem feeding them :-). Thank goodness for ezy pillows. I'm sure you will inspire people so well done.

@tw1nm0mmy: Mine too, til about 5 or 6 months. Then he was too distracted by EVERYTHING, so we moved to the bedroom where it's quieter.
