  • ugh...Vengerov is sooooooo flamboyant....i personally don't know how anyone can play well when they're flailing around like crazy. i got a lot of crap in college for not doing physical gestures while i played. even though my playing was beautiful, they wanted me to sway and make dramatic faces. i say that all that matters is how you sound!

  • hey 5:18 lol, bashmet looks like he's thinking 'get away from me'

two absolutely fantastic musicians (especially bashmet in my taste/oppinion) however, people are right, there was no chemistry, still, a winning a performance, though, i would have died to have been there to watch it live!

  • @vlnvlaclogbaerhpno All that matters IS how you sound! When I listen to Vengerov play, I don't hear his gestures, all I hear is a Master and his instrument. So, for me it doesn't detract from his playing. He could be turning somersaults, for all I care! He still sounds like a superb player...

  • people who let the music flow through them start to move involuntarily. it happens a lot more in dance where it actually makes sense to move.

it is absolute pleasure to be in that state because you could feel the vibrations and the depth of the sound on a sensory level reverberating in your body. It also improves reaction time, rhythm, your senses essentially and sort of lets what's been internalized through hard training to subconsciously naturally come out.

  • the body movement and facial expression is a clear indication of total focus. it's also hard to teach young kids to move with the music and when distorted faces show up , you usually hear better music !

  • @vlnvlaclogbaerhpno I agree, that is all that matters: what I like about Vengerov is when I close my eyes, he still sounds brilliant. On Violin or Viola.

  • Watch Horowitz play. His economy of motion and lack of extraneous gestures does not in any way detract from the perfection of his performance. Judges would do well to learn from that.

  • I also make idioic faes while I play coz I cant help it , this is how I am

  • @iasamiam i never said that i sound as good as Vengerov. you should go play 'hide and go fvck yourself'.

  • @vlnvlaclogbaerhpno - i'm sure you sound just as good as Vengerov too. idiot.

  • @vlnvlaclogbaerhpno : and I'm sure you sound just as good as Vengerov... idiot.

  • music for the gods
