  • My parents Carl and Jewel Kohler were married there on 6-11-1938

  • @thescooterbell that is so sweet, thanks for sharing that. there is no modern wedding or fancy celebration that would ever be as beautiful, i'm sure. i've no doubt that weddings were more beautiful in those days when the only focus was two people in love...and not designer dresses, expensive flowers and all of the modern chaos. i'd rather go back in time and witness their beautiful moment over any modern wedding.

  • Reminds me of the church I went to when I was younger! One room churches are great!

  • @crazykidsdad I think it's wonderful you attended a small church. The one I was raised in was just the opposite. My minister has been upgrading the size of the church and moving it into bigger buildings and now that he is close to retirement, he wants to erect a multimillion dollar church to leave as his legacy...all at a time when church attendance is low, etc. Small, intimate churches are the real deal...where true fellowship and dedication to values is maintained.

  • Very catchy song!

  • Great harmony I find.

  • A Dr. Bill Pitts wrote this song from being inspired after continuing a stagecoach ride stopover in Bradford, Iowa ( now Nashua ). After it's popularity tha song ( and church ) simply became known as "Tha Little Brown Church".

  • thank you jesus, for i shall serve you forever, amen

  • @jenzeppelin THhs is so true. I attend a little church outside of Seattle - Holy Trinity Anglican Church. It is literally a little brown church (in the forest, not the dale). We have a choir that is so small that I am the (only) soprano. We may be small, but their is true warmth and friendship there - and a little cake and coffee afterward. This is the way church should be. This song always reminds me of our church.

  • Un morceau superbe, merci la carter family!

  • beats lady gaga

  • I agree. Dad passed away in 1979. Mom is still in Iowa. She will be 95 this month. She wanted to get married in her church in West Union Iowa, but couldn't get enough time off from work as a telephone operator. She went and visited it recently. Hard to believe it would be 73 years this year, He would have been about 97. Thank you for your nice comments.

  • I love this song alot as it has specail meaning to me as my grandparents were married in the Little Brown Church so when I hear this song or gets in my head I know they are in a much better place. I love and miss them dearly but this song always brings a smile to my face. Thank you for putting it up.
