@63jdog He is a professor at Cornell University

@HardyHarz. In what year should we judge Greg's voice? In the 2011, or early in his career? His voice was better on albums, such as, "Suffer" and "No Control". But, our voices change as we age. Bowie can't sing "Life on Mars" like he use too. Oh well.

I couldn't disagree more about Greg's voice. He's always been a favorite vocalist for me. His voice is smokey and ominous, PERFECT for their music.
Singers don't always have to wail when they sing.

@bowling4soup35 I personally havn't heard a voice like Greg's, to be honest.
I love how he's, what, 46, and yet in addition to having a PhD, being a college professor and an author, he's a kickass punk-rock vocalist.
Damn, i'd love to have a teacher like him :P

@bowling4soup35 My voice feels strained listening to Greg. But then again, I'm no singer.
-
it's punk rock man!!who cares bout the voice?the important is the message!!

I think Greg's voice is fine. And he makes up for it in vocabulary.

Greg looks like my physics teacher

The voice thing, is that generally, people are used to auto tuning these days. The singer can sing with any BS flair he wants- and auto tuning will fix all their problems. Greg comes from the era where people actually had to sing. Also- the genius comes from the subtleties in the melodies- not some gimmicky scream or trick.
