  • I saw Robin at Winterland, SF. On the bill was Steve Marriot All stars and (I think) Tommy Bolin. Day of the Eagle was the opening number. Then he played the opening riff to Bridge of Sighs, and the crowd went nuts. It was one of those moments you just never forget.

I remember this being the bi-centenial year, 1976. Is it possible this was in '76 instead of '75? (not that it really matters, but its kind of cool to see a clip of a show you were at so long ago...)

  • @viktahL - the concert you described was indeed in 1976. However, this concert featured Pablo Cruise and Journey as the other acts, and was in 1975.

  • I was a friend of Rich McKean.I was a friend of his brother at Piedmont High,Ken.

I attended this great show at Winterland! The late, great bass player/vocalist

James Dewar of Robin Trower with Robin on guitar and Reg Isidore on drums!

What a Trio! In my book, their body of great, original songs was every bit as great

    as The Jimi Hendrix Experience!

  • @loungerenownrecords - Reg Isidore did not play at this concert.

  • saw trower in 1977 winterland,,,opening band was a guy named eddie money,,,i have some photos from that concert on my blog,,,google search,,,,vintagetourjackets

  • @domnal you've got it, i remember that. sabbath was also considered kind of a joke, aerosmith were stones copy-cats (glimmer twins - toxic twins), and grand funk was probably roasted by writers as much as any band, ever. i guess the standards were much, much higher back then, but not all together correct aye?

  • @StephenRedrobe I stand corrected and to cs368 also.Bill

Lordan was the drummer at this show.Robin Trower was

grinning from ear to ear the entire performance because he

felt the love of the crowd. The crowd erupted with joy when

the band played "Day Of The Eagle." The band had me and

numerous other people dancing on this song.

  • @thinlizzy44 I'm sure a majority will agree with you."In City Dreams" is

one example of a 2nd GREAT Trower album. There are more whose titles I

can't now recall.I saw Buddy Miles (the drummer of Band Of Gypsy's)

perform with The Electric Flag at The Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco

at the height of their success. The world gets smaller. My buddy Jaee Logan

of my Patton Leatha band knew Buddy. In the mid 1980's Buddy used to

hang out at Jaee's studio in San Rafael,California.

  • @loungerenownrecords wooooah...easy does it lounger! I love Trower, don't get me wrong, and the Bridge lp ranks way up there, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY is in the same solar system as Hendrix, let alone the same planet. He wrote three lps, and had the live Band Of Gypsy's record, which is only four lps, but every single song he did was a masterpiece and most were commercially successful. Trower has one great lp; he's light years from the MAN. There's Jimi, and there's everyone else.

  • I saw Trower also in SFO at Winterland. The show I saw had Journey and Pablo Cruise open for him. It was shortly after Journey released their first album. Anyone know which year? Although a Trower fan, after hearing Kahoutek one evening on KSAN, I went a new Journey fan.

  • Awesome. I saw this group in NYC, probably in 1976. Hendrix is a good conparison.

How was this video shot, with an 8mm camera? LOL

  • @tjfreak Lmao! I hear ya
