  • LMAO SAMUEL L JACKSON REFERENCE! PULP FICTION FTW! BROKEN CAPS LOCK!

  • @cannotstopme666

YOU DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT CAPSLOCK BEING BROKEN BECAUSE CAPSLOCK IS CRUISE-CONTROL FOR COOL BRAH!

  • The "Absence of Evidence..." quote is by Carl Sagan

The "known knowns..." quote is by Donald rumsfeld if im not mistaken. I can't find videos of him saying the essence part.

  • @lolitsluis

Not sure whether or not Carl Sagan said it, but both are almost exact quotes from Rumsfeld. There are multiple videos on youtube of him doing this quote. I can only find him doing the explanation bit, but he's widely cited as saying "There's another way to phrase that and that is that the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence." The videos seem to miss this, though, but he supposedly says it right before going into the above explanation... to justify the Iraq war! :)

  • Religion in a nutshell

  • @EikC

BUT EVEN WITH CRUIS CONTROL YOU STILL HAVE TO STEER!

  • @cannotstopme666 Samuel L Jackson is actually the voice that plays him.

  • @EikC Carl Sagan wrote exactly this in The Demon-Haunted World, so I Rumsfeld was quoting him

  • contrariwise, the absence of evidence of absence, is not evidence of presence.

  • I FUCKINGLOVE RUMMY !!!!

  • What?

  • @EikC Carl Sagan in the book "The Demon-Haunted World" chapter 12, Sagan is listing fallacies, this phrase appears under "Appeal to ignorance", page 200 in the edition of 1997 (I looked it up). I have no proof but a repeatable verifiable experiment: look it up youself and find out. The quote is "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". The first edition of the book is from the year 1995, does that predates Donald Rumsfeld, or is it a known unknown? (I don't know when he said that).

  • can we just agree that boondocks is the greatest thing to ever happen to television?
