Chapter 76: Wake Up!

Nicki's P.O.V.

"Joseph Adam get your butt out of bed now!" I yelled from the kitchen. Kevin and Nick had already gotten up, on time when I had asked them. But sleepy head Joseph was still in bed.

I sighed and walked to his bunk. I pulled back the cover, yanked his sheets off of him, and brought my hand down onto his bottom twice. His eyes shot open. "Up."

"You've been here 4 days and you already think you're in charge," Joe groaned.

"I don't think I'm in charge," I snapped. "But when I tell you to get up 4 times and you don't, I'll get you up the best way I know how!"

He rolled his eyes, and hopped out of his bunk. He plopped down at the table, and huffed loudly. I sat down across from him. I had already made his plate. We joined hands, but when I reached out for his he didn't take it. That hurt...a lot.

Kevin finished saying grace, and they began to eat. I didn't though. Tears filled my eyes and I looked down.

"What's wrong Sissy?" Nick asked me.

"Uhhh, n-nothing. I'm not hungry. G-get me after your done and I'll clean." I jumped up and ran to my bunk. I climbed into it and buried my face into my pillow. The tears fell and I didn't try to stop them.

Joe's P.O.V.

"What's wrong with Kiki," Kevin asked.

"I don't know," Nick said. He went silent. I knew he was feeling her emotions, not that I cared. "She's hurt...really hurt."

That got my concern. All I did was not hold her hand during grace. Was that so bad?

"Joe, do you know what's wrong?" Nicky asked me. He looked and sounded desperate. He hates it when Nicki is sad.

"I-I..." I couldn't answer.

"Joseph?" Kevin asked in a warning tone. I bit my lip then said,

"I didn't hold her hand during prayer," I mumbled.

"Why not?" Kevin demanded.

"Because she spanked me to get me up," I told him. Kevin popped my thigh, hard.

"Apologize...now!" He ordered.

I quickly got up and walked to her bunk. I could hear her crying through the curtain. My heart ached when I pulled back the curtain to see her tear stained face. When she saw me, she shrunk back.

"Kiki..." I trailed off and reached out to her. She flinched, and I was hurt. "I'm not gonna hurt you," I said quietly.

I hopped up into her bunk. We just sat and stared at each other. "Kiki, I'm sorry."

My apology hung in the air for a few seconds. Then she jumped onto me, throwing her arms around my neck. I laid back, pulling her on top of me. I held her tightly, and she cried into my chest. I dont know why she was crying.

"Ouch!" I said, as she bit my chest. I looked down at her and she had a look of pure pain on her face. "Kiki?"

She didn't say anything. He eyes squeezed shut and she grabbed her temples, rubbing them. I was about to call out to Nick, but the curtain was yanked back. Nick was on the other side.

"Give her to me. It's another headache...but this time it's worse." He said it in a strained voice, obviously feeling it as well. I handed her to him.

"How much worse?" I asked.

"A serious migrane."
