The cut to the shot of her in profile at :18 leaves me conflicted: it seems to both magnify the awful violence ("here is her face--look closely before it's disturbed") and to underscore her dignity and composure ("look at her composure, even in the face of such violence"). And just as she winces, preparing for the inevitable slap, we cut again at :20, as if the camera can't bear to look. But we still must endure the terrible exaggeration of the sound--even if we're allowed to look away.

C'est à la fois curieux et troublant de revoir cet excellent pianiste que fut Michel Briguet  s'essayer au métier de comédien en jouant précisément le rôle ... d'un pianiste ! Mais quel est l'intérêt d'une si courte séquence ?
