My stepmother told me,
When I was a girl.
I'd never be happy
While I'm in this world.
And the love that I longed for
Would never be mine.
And all through my searching
I never would find.

I'd always be looking for love.
Desperately looking for love.

Fairy Godmother told me
She'd dreamed I would come.
A child she'd been handed
With a crowd all around.
But while she was turned
They all slipped away.
The doors they were closing
And locked into place.
And now there they stood
Just her and the girl.
For her to watch over
Alone in the world.

But I'd always be looking for love.
Desperately looking for love.

A quick word about the location. This video was shot in the same church that I am standing in the doorway of in the background picture of my profile... If you can believe that. They have recently restored the structure. I do miss the way it was before, all wild with ivy and growth. But at least this way it will stand for another hundred years.

  • A very beautiful performance! Your own song? I feel compelled to comment about the saddness of it. The step mother does a diservice to the poor girl. It's a self-fufilling prophecy that could become a generational curse. I must remind myself it is just song. Still I find it deeply sad.

    Yes it's my own.

A curse indeed, but one hopefully that could be overcome. At least that's how most fairytales go, right? Always a happily ever after.

  • Beautiful location. Beautiful, although sad, song. Wonderful performance as always.

It's good to hear that the church has been restored for future generations. Sadly a local, very old & beautiful, church was torn down even though a local group had raised the money to restore it. They were less than one day past the deadline for getting the paper work into the city, so the city bulldozed the church. Now there is only a vacant, weed infested, lot where once stood a beautiful church building. Sad.
