I got to the park around 9:30am and the action was pretty much non-stop for the rest of the day wherever I went. Peck Park rivals Rochelle and the Fostoria Iron Triangle as far as traffic intensity and I highly recommend this spot to any railfan. The BNSF Mendota Sub crosses over the BNSF Chillicothe Sub here and the Barstow Sub feeds into the Mendota line right at the top of the crossover. The park itself isn't as nice as Rochelle and the sight lines are a bit tight but it's still a great place to spend the day. I didn't spend too much time at the Amtrak station as traffic on the Mendota Sub slowed to a crawl while I was there. The next video features action at Galesburg Yard.
1. BNSF 7880 (ES44DC) & 4147 (C44-9W)- westbound intermodal on the Chilli Sub.
2. BNSF 6259, 6043 (ES44AC's) & CP 9620- southbound manifest crosses over the previous train on the Mendota Sub.
3. BNSF 7303 & 5040- DPU's from the first train.
4. AMTK 23- bound for Galesburg Station about a half mile south of the crossing.
5. BNSF 6644 (ES44C4) & 5135 (C44-9W)- eastbound stacker on the Chilli Sub.
6. BNSF 4136 (C44-9W) & 7356 (ES44DC)- southbound manifest on the Mendota Sub.
7. BNSF 5177 (C44-9W) & 9531 (SD70MAC)- eastbound auto rack train with an Executive Big MAC.
8. BNSF 5416 & 5275 (C44-9W's)- southbound intermodal on the Mendota Sub.
9. BNSF 514, 510, 540 & 559 (all B40-8W's)- Four B-units make up the lashup on M-GALNTW bound for Minneapolis. 514 & 510 were seen at Galesburg Yard last night from the bridge in my previous video.
10. BNSF 9315 (SD70ACe), 9633 (SD70MAC) & 6218 (ES44AC)- Northbound coal on the Mendota Sub most likely off the "Quincy Main."
11. BNSF 7513 (ES44DC), 4187 , 4174 (C44-9W's) & 7844 (ES44DC)- eastbound containers on the Chilli Sub. The last unit looks relatively new.
12. BNSF 1895 (SD40-2)- A "snoot' unit pulls a line of auto-racks well out of Galesburg Yard and would eventually back in again.
13. BNSF 1882 (SD40-2)- I didn't spend too much time at the Amtrak station and this was the only shot I got. Another "snoot" unit pulls a line of cars out of the yard for some headroom.
That 9315 train is not a coal its an empty iron ore train, the U MADALL and its not on the Mendota its on the Barstow sub aka the peavine. Also its not M GALNTW its H GALNTW.
