Rare earth magnetic spinning a non-magnetic coin. The motion is caused by the changing magnetic field not magnetism. For more information including instructions, discussion of concepts, and other demonstrations visit the NKU demonstration database at ChemDemos.nku.edu

  • How about a script?

  • Aluminum is paramagnetic.

  • The movement of electrons causes a electromagnetic field that opposes the motion of the magnet N3L, We are currently doing magnetic fields and wires in collage (Your high school I think, not sure!) So I have a basic understanding but the thing I dont fully understand is in this experiment or using a tube, the electrons move in a way that cant be directly thought of (by me) as using FLR how do they move and why?

  • cool

  • Cool. Now ICP can finally get their answer to "magnets, how do they work". (Sorry, I couldn't resist bring up the ridiculous religious internet meme).
