DEFINITION: Incentive to preserve health by moving around to safer areas (combat encounter in the company of enemy AI). The player is also vulnerable if they can "die" and thus not fulfill their mission goal.
EVENT 1: Player needs to move forward along a path or visual axis to get to the goal. EVENT 2:AI Entity resists (or crossfire from side), slows down, or distracts forward motion. Static archetypal barrier may force player to make a detour. REWARD: Entity Neutralized or detour taken. Player continues down path towards goal. EXAMPLES: Found in all games. Crossfire especially in FPS games: MOH, Prototype, LOST, BioShock
