Lew Dewitt - Statler Brothers

Lew was the original tenor for the Statler Brothers. He was forced to retire from the group due to an intestinal illness he had since birth that later killed him in 1990. During his short retirement years he recorded On My Own. This song was included on that album.

@covalentbond007 I guess the fact that it was Lew that brought Jimmy to Harold, Phil, and Don as his PERSONAL pick to replace himself, cuts no ice with you? Both were unique in their talents, and Jimmy was the sole reason that they didn't backslide into obscurity after losing as big a piece as Lew.

Lew was the greatest tenor ever. His voice was totally unique and pure. Jimmy Fortune was also very good and he certainly contriuted a lot, but I don't think anyone could have filled Lew's shoes,because Lew was in a class by himself. RIP LEW.

i love this song who sang it before lew i know it from somewhere mabye on the statlers show on tv.
