Nothin like a good 440 to prove that even in '74,when the last real Chargers were coming off the line, that Chrysler had the last laugh and the better car.

I miss my 73 charger so bad now, I can't stand it. I had to sell it for $400 after I got married. 18 years later, the wife divorced me. Man I miss that car. Mine was a SE 400 with a two barrel. I had a 74 SE with a 318. The 74 was console and buckets, while the 73 was a bench. I researched the Charger history and the 71 through 74 Chargers outsold all the other Charger body styles, but they aren't nearly as easy to find as the 66 through 67 or even the 68 through 70 models.

what is the engine is it a 318?
hemimatrix 3 years ago
No, the engine is a 400 magnum, 4 barrels with a 4 speed transmission. Original car, paint, engine ,all, now i am doing a stroker with a 440, it will give me 541 cubic inch !!

I would keep the 400 all original if I were you those 400 4 speed cars are really rare. My father has a 73 400 4speed charger and a 73 roadrunner 400 4speed. I just picked up a 74 roadrunner 400 4speed a few months ago. Let me know how ]your stroker motor comes out cause were building a 500 stroker based from a 400 block.

I have 4.500 inch of stroke and 4.375 bore , i buy brand new max wedge head from edelbrock and max wedge intake, 1 7/8 inch headers and mechanical cam, roller rocker only, our target is 650-700 hp with pump gaz and 11.25 compression ratio, i have eagle crank, ross piston, GRP connecting rod, , look at this site and it will give you a good idea, there is one problem with eagle crank,if you put chevy rod, you will have a lot of side play (0.060) have a godd day
