Some dropzones I know of have tandem only as a first-jump option now. I did two tandems before I started AFF (I did have a choice) and I think it helped me get over the introductory "sensory overload" to where I wouldn't freeze up as bad the first time I did a solo.

@xybevideo That is not entirely true. Your first 3-4 jumps you will be held onto during the full portion of the skydive. If all things go well you will be released during flight on the 3rd or 4th jump. If you fly well, maintain a heading, and have good altitude awareness you can be jumping solo around your 8th jump.

Without that arrow i would have no clue what happened.

@blindkilla2 you are obviously a cunt, if your not in the game go away and come back when you know what you are fucking talking about. if you are in the game i hope your main and reserve catch fucking fire on your next jump. it was his FIRST jump

i cant say for sure cause i havent done this ,but i think i would be more afraid after the chute opened and i had to fly it from point a to b by myself than the actual freefall and pulling, but again pure speculation ... just my thoughts

This is why mentally handicapped people shouldnt be allowed to skydive.

On the contrary, skydiving can help overcome some of our own mental limitations. With the help of my instructors I completed AFF and went on to have some wonderful solo jumps.

cool man how many jumps do you have to do before you can jump solo

Not many if you are more clear headed than me, during AFF you jump with your instructor by your side but he is just evaluating you he doesn't grab you.
